Application

Alpha-cypermethrin is a non-systemic insecticide with contact and stomach actionacts by blocking the passage of sodium ions through sodium channels in nerve membranes. Used to control a wide range of chewing and sucking insects (particularly Lepidoptera, Coleoptera, and Hemiptera) in fruit and crops, forestry. Control of cockroaches, mosquitoes, flies, and other insect pests in public health; and flies in animal houses. Also used as an animal ectoparasiticide.

Acute oral LD50 (rats) 57 mg/kg (in corn oil). Skin and eye Acute percutaneous LD50 for rats and rabbits >2000 mg tech./kg. Minimal irritant to the eyes of rabbits. Birds LD50 (northern bobwhite quail) >2025 mg/kg. Fish LC50 (96h) (rainbow trout) 2.8 μg/l; Algae EC50 (96h) for Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata >100 μg/l. Toxic to bees.
