Chemical and Physical properties: Stable in normal condition, HFC-134a is odorless, colorless, non-corrosive
Preparation
HFC-134a (tetrafluoroethane) is made by process of two-step gas-phase fluoridation between trichloroethylene (PCE) and hydrofluoric acid (HF). The intermediate of reaction is HCFC-133a
Application
HFC-134a is applied primarily as a “high-temperature” refrigerant for home and automobile air conditioners, also as blowing agent for rigid foam insulation materials, as a cleaning solvent, as a propellant for the delivery of pharmaceuticals, and as gas dusters

Risks and Safety Information
Non-flammable gas; Class 2.2; UN3159
HFC-134a may decompose under temperature of 250 °C and emits toxic gases including hydrogen fluoride and carbonyl halides. Compressed HFC-134a will greatly lower temperature of any object it contacts. This can cause frostbite when it contacts skin.
