Physical & Chemical properties: HPAA is a pale yellow acidic liquid, easily chelating with di- and trivalent ion such as Fe2-, Mg2-, Ca2-, Ba2-, etc.
Preparation
2-Hydroxy Phosphonoacetic Acid (HPAA) can be obtained by reaction between glyoxylic acid and phosphorus trichloride: C2H2O3+PCl3+3H2O→C2H5O6P+3HCl
Application
2-Hydroxy Phosphonoacetic Acid (HPAA) is primarily used as scale inhibitor in water treatment, pipeline. It a) has the best corrosion inhibiting ability among phosphonates, suitable for high-corrosion water; b) is compatible with zinc salt; c) has good heat-stability, high temperature resistance is 200 deg.C d) contents lower phosphorus, lower impact on environment.
