PREPARATION

Dipotassium phosphite can be obtained by neutralization reaction between phosphorous acid (H3PO3) and potassium hydroxide (or potassium carbonate)
H3PO3+2KOH→K2HPO3+2H2O

or

H3PO3+K2CO3→K2HPO3+CO2+H2O

APPLICATION

1) Dipotassium phosphite is used in formulation of foliar fertilizer and water-soluble fertilizer.
2) Dipotassium phosphite is used as fungicide to control Oomycetes (esp. Phytophthora sp), similar to fosetyl aluminium (Aliette).
